Gardaí seized three firearms, ammunition and a bayonet from a house in Dublin last night after they responded to reports of an assault on a street in Crumlin.

Shortly before 10pm, gardaí received a call alleging an assault was taking place on Cashel Avenue, Dublin 12, and that a firearm had been produced, a Garda spokesman said.

Gardaí who attended the scene spoke to a number of people, and they then searched a house on Cashel Avenue.

During the search, a sawn-off shot gun, a replica AK47 and a replica handgun were found, along with 36 shotgun cartridges and a bayonet, the spokesman said.
