Hamburg fired coach Klaus Toppmoeller today, the day after the 1983 European Cup champions lost their sixth match of the season.
He will be replaced by former Germany international Thomas Doll.
Hamburg are in last place in the Bundesliga with two wins and six defeats.
Toppmoeller was fired almost exactly one year after he was hired on October 16, 2003, as a replacement for coach Kurt Jara.

He is the second Bundesliga coach to lose his job this season after Schalke 04 fired Jupp Heynckes in September.
Toppmoeller was named German Coach of the Year after leading Bayer Leverkusen in the 2001-1002 season to the finals of the Champions League and German Cup in the 2001-2 season second place in the Bundesliga.
