Paolo di Canio claims West Ham are "desperate" to force him out of Upton Park to fund fresh transfer bids by boss Glenn Roeder.
The Italian striker's revelations, which come in the wake of yesterday's apparent collapse of his drawn-out £3.5 million sterling transfer to Manchester United, will alert a host of Premiership clubs to his unwanted status at the struggling Hammers.
Di Canio said: "I know West Ham desperately want to sell me. They desperately want me to leave the club. I have never asked to leave, but they want to sell me to bring money into the club.
"The situation is clear. I do not want to go as I want to play here. I signed a contract a few years ago and have always said I wanted to stay," he said.
"This is not my problem - this is West Ham's problem. I do not have to say anything and it's not really in my hands, so I can relax".
Di Canio seems set to remain at Upton Park after Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke's move to Middlesbrough - which would have created space for di Canio at Old Trafford - fell through yesterday after Boro could not match Yorke's wage demands.
Sir Alex Ferguson had hoped to sign di Canio by the end of today so he was eligible for the next round of the Champions League - with the deadline for the new players' rosters set for tonight.
