A direct result of a total investment of £8.4 million, the new jobs will be created over the next three years following the expansion of Leading Edge, Lecan Technologies and Qualtrace Solutions.

Welcoming the announcements, Mr Brian Quinlan, Director of Enterprise Ireland, South West Region which had supported the expansion said it was a major boost for Cork, which is vigorously promoting the growth of high-tech companies in the area.

"The export sales growth demonstrated by these companies over the last number of years is a tribute to the strength of all the staff involved and the commitment and dedication of the management, he said.

"Enterprise Ireland is delighted to be associated with three such dynamic and vibrant companies and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with them".

Making the announcement earlier today, the Tánaiste said the Irish owned internationally traded services sector is a key growth area, which contributes substantially to wealth creation and employment growth.

"The creation of 142 high quality jobs in this sector is a substantial boost for Cork as it continues to grow its cluster of high tech companies and is a display of confidence in the region, she said.

"Leading Edge, Lecan Technologies and Qualtrace Solutions are dynamic, young companies which epitomise the type of enterprise activity which the Government and Enterprise Ireland are seeking to encourage in locations."
