The Tánaiste Ms Harney said today that last week's row with the EU over budgetary policy was "unfortunate" but added Ireland was fully committed to economic and monetary union with Europe.
She said that the issue did not undermine the process put in place to keep the euro zone's 15 members in line.
Ms Harney said the Government valued the EU process which led to last Monday's censure.
"In this process, member states and the Commission comment on each other's policies for the purpose of seeing that all our people benefit from economic stability and growth."
Ms Harney added it was now time for the EU and Ireland to move forward together on a wide range of common objectives.
"I very much welcome in that context Commissioner Solbes's affirmation that the disagreement of recent weeks will have no effect of Ireland's relationships on the EU," she said.
