The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney has cleared the acquisition of Today FM and the Longford Leaderby Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH).
SRH already owns 24 per cent of Today FM and they will now acquire all outstanding shares. They have no other interests in radio broadcasting or radio advertising in Ireland.
SRH will also be adding the Longford Leaderto their portfolio of regional newspapers which includes the Kilkenny People, Tipperary Starand Nationalist & Munster Advertiser.
In approving both of these acquisitions by SRH, the Tánaiste said that by becoming part of a larger group both Today FM and the Longford Leaderwill be better equipped to provide more competition in the national media market.
