GAA: Tyrone will be without Justin McMahon, Conor Gormley and Martin Penrose for one month after all three were hit with suspensions by the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee.
Derry’s Eoin Bradley was also handed a proposed one month ban as a result of incidents during the counties’ NFL clash at Celtic Park last weekend.
The suspensions are believed to have arisen after the CCCC asked referee Pat McEnaney to review the incidents for which he gave all four players yellow cards.
After watching the videos McEnaney said the incidents warranted red cards and the CCCC imposed the bans.
Bradley was left out of the Derry side to face Dublin tomorrow night prior to the ban being handed out.
McMahon, Gormley and Penrose had been named in Mickey Harte’s side for Sunday’s meeting with Mayo and while the manager said they will not be appealing he is unhappy with the decision, arguing the manner in which the punishments were upgraded is not standard practice.
"If this policy was adopted across the board in all games, then I could accept it," he told BBC Sport.
"But that wasn't the case last year when two of our players were the only ones to receive these kind of suspensions during the National League.
"Again, we are being punished because our match happened to be televised live.
"If this policy of going back over matches and every incident was applied to all games, then I would have no complaint with it.
"But that wasn't the case last year and it doesn't appear to be the case again this season."
