Welsh striker John Hartson scored four goals as Celtic thrashed stricken Aberdeen 7-0 at Parkhead today to close the gap at the top of the Scottish premier league to a single point.
Hartson struck in the 26th, 35th, 51st and 81st minutes, with Henrik Larsson, Bobo Balde and Shaun Maloney also on target against an Aberdeen team stripped of most of their first team regulars because of flu.
The win took Celtic to 34 points, one behind Rangers who won 3-0 at Dundee yesterday.
Hearts moved up to third on 20 point after a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby.
Finn Mixu Paatelainen had Hibs ahead in the 36th minute but Kevin McKenna equalised in the 86th and Phil Stamp hit the winner in the last minute - only to be sent off in injury time for a second booking.
