Boxing:Hatton cannot wait to fight Floyd Mayweather after news emerged that his father has verbally agreed a deal with the American's representatives.
Hatton's father Ray agreed the deal through Oscar De La Hoya's 'Golden Boy' Promotions. An official announcement is believed to be imminent, with the fight expected to take place on December 8th in Las Vegas.
The 28-year-old Hatton has already seen off Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo to underline his world-class credentials but he believes a super-fight against Mayweather, who retired unbeaten earlier this year after beating De La Hoya on a split decision in May, would be the peak of his career.
"Floyd is the one I want more than anybody else and if the fight can be made I would be there like a shot," Hatton told the Daily Express. "But he's been mouthing off about what he would do to me for years, but then so did Kostya Tszyu and look what happened to him.
"Floyd is a great fighter but if he thinks I'm going to turn up and just lie back and take what he has got to dish out then he has got another thing coming.
"Just getting in the ring with him will be the greatest day of my life, other than when my son Campbell was born. It will be massive."
