Boxing: Floyd Mayweather Jr has approached Ricky Hatton's team about a possible rematch in 2009, according to the Englishman's camp.
Mancunian Hatton suffered his only professional defeat at the hands of pound-for-pound king Mayweather a year ago, being comprehensively beaten inside 10 rounds in Las Vegas.
The 30-year-old two-weight world champion has spoken of his desire for a rematch with Mayweather, who retired after the victory.
Recent rumours have suggested Mayweather has been preparing to return to the ring, and Hatton's lawyer Gareth Williams said the American has indicated Hatton may get his wish.
However, Hatton's priority remains a showdown with Manny Pacquiao, who inherited Mayweather's status as the world's leading fighter - he recently defeated Oscar De La Hoya.
