More than £4 billion will be spent on this Department due to a 17 per cent allocation aimed at benefiting hospital facilities, increasing pay and cutting waiting lists. As a result of the increase, a further 3,000 health professionals and other workers will be recruited, and there will be capital investment of over £230 million in the building, equipping and furnishing of health facilities.
The Estimates include £11.5 million for major developments at Limerick Regional Hospital, University Hospital, Galway, and Mayo General Hospital.
