According to a recent consumer review from the agency safefood, only just over one-third of consumers in Ireland say they getting their five portions of fruit and veg per day.
If you are looking to get more into your daily diet, Scientific Support Manager with safefood Dr Aileen McGloin offers some practical suggestions. “Whether it’s an apple or banana as a snack, salad in a lunchtime sandwich or vegetables with a main meal, there are lots of ways we can increase our portions, even by one more a day,” she says.
“Tinned and frozen varieties which are quick and easy to prepare are also convenient ways to have more fruit and vegetables.”
