THE most popular of last month's shows in Paris was that given by Yohji Yamamoto who demonstrated the kind of flair and wit many other designers seem to have relinquished lately. At this show, guests were presented with phials of Yamamoto's first fragrance. Three years in the making, it is called simply Yohji and is bound to appeal every bit as much as the designer's clothes.
Contained in a simple glass cylinder as pared back as all Yamamoto's work, Yohji is described as "amber fruity" but the presence of azalea means the perfume also has a definite floral and feminine presence. Other elements in the blend include vanilla, sandalwood, musk and coumarin (the scent of new mown hay). The end result is subtle but undeniably sensual.
From this morning, Yohji will be on sale in Ireland at Brown Thomas. We have 10 bottles of 50 ml eau de toilette spray (worth £40 each) to give away to readers. All you have to do is take this page to the counter in Brown Thomas's perfume hall where Yohji is being sold. The first 10 readers to present the page will be given a bottle of Yohji.
