Life Pregnancy Care Service is looking for women volunteers for their counsellors' training course starting on Saturday, February 7th. Life is a registered charity and has no political or religious affiliation and is make up of people opposed to abortion who work towards providing a positive and viable alternative. The service provides a free, confidential service including pregnancy testing, counselling and post-abortion counselling. Centres are located in Dublin, Cork, Letterkenny, Galway, Killybegs, Thurles and Tallaght. "The Twelve Steps" is the title of a workshop presented by the Irish Association for Counselling and Therapy next Saturday in the Mount Herbert Hotel, Herbert Road, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4, from 9.45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop is presented by Alan O'Dwyer who is an accredited member of IACT and who has, as a former publican, seen at first hand the effects of alcohol addiction. The day costs £20 for members and £25 for non-members and is open to anyone interested in finding out more about The Twelve Steps programme pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous. The Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) in association with Mars Ireland will host a Sports Nutrition conference in Jury's Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin, next Saturday. The conference aims to bridge the gap between scientific theories and findings, and the daily practice of coaching and training, and will be of interest to sports coaches, doctors and health professionals, competitive athletes and sports scientists. There will be a group question and answer session and an open forum with athletes, coaches and speakers. The day costs £15 per person.
