THE Irish Cancer Society hosts a public lecture on men's cancers in Connolly Hall, Laps Quay, Cork on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be Eamon Kiely, consultant urologist, University College Hospital, Cork, who will talk about prostate and testicular cancer. Other speakers will include Avril Gillat of the Irish Cancer Society who will talk about "How to reduce the risk of developing cancer", and Pat McGrane, a founder member of Men Against Cancer (MAC), the newly formed men's cancer support group.

. ASPIRE, the Asperger Syndrome Association of Ireland, is holding a one day conference entitled "Constructive Approaches for Asperger Syndrome" on Thursday, June 6th, at Taney Hall, Dundrum, Dublin. Speakers will include Dr Tony Humphries, clinical psychologist and author of several books on self esteem, and Angela McCabe, of the Institute for Neuro Physiological Psychology, who specialises in intervention therapies for adults and children with learning difficulties. "GOING Smoke Free: The Popular Choice" is a new campaign to encourage organisations and clubs at national and local events to reduce the effects of passive smoking by adopting a voluntary policy declaring their meetings "smoke free".
