A further 2,845 PCR-confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been notified to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) on Friday.
As of 8am on Friday, 1,182 Covid-19 patients were hospitalised, of whom 58 are in intensive care units (ICU).
Meanwhile, 3,038 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal on Thursday.
In Northern Ireland, the deaths of a further five patients who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 have been reported.

The North’s Department of Health has also notified another 983 positive cases of the virus in the previous 24-hour period.
On Friday morning, there were 478 Covid-positive patients in hospital, of whom five were in intensive care.
