- A new Irish company, BFree Foods, has developed a range of wheat-free and gluten- free bakery products. Sample them in a pop-up shop on 23-24 Duke St, Dublin 2 in the next few days. The products are also available in Dunnes Stores throughout the country. See befreefoods.com
- The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) will hold an Open Day on Wednesday, January 4th for students from second-level schools. The aim of the day is to give students a taste for life as a medical, pharmacy and physiotherapy student. A series of talks will be held on the courses available at the RCSI and how to apply for them. Students can register online at rcsi.ie/openday. Registration will close this Thursday.
- A New Year’s residential retreat from December 30th to January 2nd will be held in the former home of Chrysalis, the Old Rectory, Donard, Co Wicklow. Participants can enjoy yoga, pilates, guided meditation, forest walks and vegetarian food. Cost €345 for a single room or €299 for a shared room. - Brú Na Bóinne Visitor Centre (Newgrange/ Knowth) Donore, Co Meath is the venue for an arts and health project until Friday, January 13th. Entitled Lighting into Darkness, the works on display have been created by members of Bri, the Brain Injury Support Group, and people with learning disabilities or mental health problems attending day centres in counties Dublin, Meath and Louth.
