Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
I certainly try to live a healthy lifestyle, if that means things like taking exercise every day, which most days I would do. I try to keep dental appointments on a regular basis.
How often do you exercise?
I love running. It’s cost effective as well as everything else, you only need a pair of runners and out you go and you can do it at any hour. It gives you great flexibility and freedom. I prefer being outdoors. I’ve run some mini marathons, half marathons and I’ve done the New York marathon. I play a bit of golf when I get a chance but it’s harder to do that now as it takes so long. I’ve done some climbing too. I’ll try whatever’s going.
Do you get your five a day?
I probably get more than that. I really do enjoy fruit and vegetables. I love broccoli, though my husband hates it, and I insist my children eat their vegetables. I’m not a great lover of potatoes, never was. I think it goes back to my young days of nearly being forced to eat them. I can work my way through a punnet of strawberries or raspberries with no difficulty.
Do you worry?
I’m sure I worry as much as anybody else. I’d be concerned about health issues, my husband and family and friends. On balance, I’m optimistic and positive and try to see the brighter side. I try to put most of my energy into solving problems and issues before they get to the worrying stage.
What do you do to relax?
There’s nothing better than the cliff walk in Howth. You could be in any part of the world, you’re totally out in the country with no noise except the birds. Or I love browsing antique shops or going to the odd auction as well because I love a bargain.
What’s your unhealthiest habit?
I’ve a sweet tooth so Dairy Milk chocolate. I wouldn’t get around to having one a day but if there’s chocolate in the fridge, I’ll definitely eat it, no problem.
