In advance of its opening in the autumn, the Hermitage Medical Clinic, the new private 101-bed hospital in west Dublin, has embarked on a recruitment drive.

The hospital advertised last week for a number of senior management positions including directors of nursing, clinical services and quality and patient safety. It is also looking for heads of departments and other grades for a range of service areas. Following a decision to reorganise the way it manages services to young people in need of high levels of support and special care, the Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting for the new position of national manager for high support and special care (salary, circa €100,000).

To date, the residential centres that provide this service in the Republic have been managed locally. The national manager will oversee the service in the Republic. Other senior HSE posts include assistant national director of performance monitoring and assistant national director of planning.

The HSE western area is looking for a principal medical officer (salary €93,894), while in Dublin the HSE is seeking a consultant gastroenterologist and general physician for Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown (salary €147,144). The Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital is looking for a senior pharmacist (salary €56,068-€66,228) and Bloomfield Care Centre, a 70-bed psychiatric hospital in Dublin 16, is looking for a director of nursing.
