Plans for the introduction of the new direct entry undergraduate midwifery and children's nursing degree programmes this year are moving ahead as the HSE starts to recruit staff.
The HSE is seeking to fill more than 30 posts, including midwifery practice development co-ordinators and midwifery and children's clinical placements co-ordinators at selected hospitals around the country. The programmes will be provided in seven different third-level institutions and will result in 240 new midwifery and children nursing places.
The post of professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Coombe Women's Hospital and St Vincent's University Hospital is among the high-
profile health sector jobs on offer.
University College Dublin is seeking a candidate to direct the academic programme in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Coombe Women's Hospital and St Vincent's University Hospital. The post involves four sessions at UCD, six at the Coombe and one at St Vincent's. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Conway Institute of Biomedical and Bimolecular Research and Dublin Medicine Centre. This category one academic consultant post has a salary of €209,923.
The HSE is seeking a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and senior lecturer for the southern area. The joint appointment will involve eight sessions at Cork University Hospital Group and three teaching duty sessions at University College Cork. The post has a salary of €178,865.
The HSE is also looking for a consultant general paediatrician for the mid-western regional hospitals in Limerick. It has a salary of €154,905. A new post of consultant haematologist in the midlands, with a salary of €163,112, is also on offer. Finally, the HSE is seeking a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist for Donegal town, with a salary of €160,701.
