Home tests can cause harm
Health tests for the "worried well" can do more harm than good and have dubious benefits, according to a report published in Britain today.

The report looks at many kinds of tests, including those bought over the internet to check liver function, home tests for prostate cancer and full body "MOTs" at private clinics.
Paramedics give strike notice
Around 1,200 ambulance personnel across the State have served notice of industrial action on the Health Service Executive (HSE). The notice expires on April 7th next. Their union, Siptu, claimed the dispute concerned the HSE's "unilateral decision to sign contracts with three private ambulance service providers in contravention of an existing agreement between the HSE and its ambulance personnel that no such action would be taken without their prior acceptance".
