Two days of incredible years

Archways national conference, Promoting the Incredible Years Programme in Ireland, is taking place next Monday and Tuesday at the Red Cow Morans Hotel, Dublin.

"The Incredible Years series has been identified as a 'blueprint' programme in every systematic review of evidence-based interventions to prevent and reduce violence, attaining the highest standards of scientific respectability," according to Archways, which facilitates the programme in the Republic.

The programme is designed to prevent and treat emotional and behavioural difficulties in children up to 12 years old.

Those addressing the conference include Prof Judy Hutchings who has extensively researched the programme in Wales.

There will also be presentations on the development of the Incredible Years programmes in locations linked to Archways around the Republic.

Discussing clinical research

The Irish Platform for Patients' Organisations, Science and Industry (IPPOSI) is facilitating a conference today on clinical research infrastructure in Ireland at Dublin Castle.

IPPOSI was set up to provide a platform for discussion between patients' organisations, scientists and industry (and, where possible, State agencies) in Ireland on policy, legislation and regulation around the development of new medicines, products, devices and diagnostics for unmet medical needs.

"This is the first time that all those involved in clinical trials including patients, science, industry, clinicians and policymakers are together to discuss clinical research in Ireland," said Michael Griffith, IPPOSI's chairman.
