NEW ONLINE 'ASTHMA CLINIC' LAUNCHED: In the lead-up to World Asthma Day on May 3rd next, irishhealth.com and the Asthma Society of Ireland have jointly developed a new Asthma Clinic:
[ http://www.irishhealth.com/asthma: Opens in new window ]
The Clinic comprises extensive up to date asthma resources and information, including an online calculator and a 10-part Video Q&A with top Asthma specialist, Dr Pat Manning. All these resources are free to users.
The Asthma Society is keen to do as much as possible to promote the idea of asthma control and adequate self-care. Despite all the advances in asthma care, 80-100 people die each year from asthma and the more information people have about self-care the fewer tragedies will occur.
The new Asthma Clinic has been developed as a 'best-of-class' online asthma resource, with all material newly written and edited by MedMedia's journalistic team and approved by the Asthma Society's Medical Committee.
Angela Edghill, chairman of the Asthma Society said: "We are proud and delighted to be part of this exciting initiative by irishhealth.com. The online Asthma Clinic is a user-friendly source of quality health information for the estimated 400,000+ Irish people with asthma. It will help supplement our Society's aim to provide reassurance and assistance to people with the condition, especially those who are newly diagnosed. The more people know about their condition, the more they are able to control it so they can lead a normal, healthy life"
"We congratulate all at irishhealth.com - Ireland's premier health website - who have been so proactive over many years in providing health news, advice and information. We look forward to working with them closely in the future", she added.
