CARERS EVENT: A carers information session on mental illnesses in young people will be held in the Lucena Clinic, 59 Orwell Road, Rathgar, Dublin on Tuesday, June 20th from 9.30am-11.30am.

This free event is held as part of a conference on early intervention in adolescent psychosis on June 20th and 21st, organised by the Ireland branch of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and the Lucena Clinic Services. CERVICAL CANCER: A public meeting on cervical cancer takes place tomorrow in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin at 7pm. Organised by the Irish Cancer Society, the meeting will highlight the importance of regular smear tests for women aged 25 and over. See www.cancer.ie for more details.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED EXHIBITION: A national exhibition of equipment, services, resources and training courses for the visually impaired takes place in St Joseph's School for the Visually Impaired, Drumcondra, Dublin on Thursday and Friday. The Seeing Better exhibition will be a one-stop shop on high and low tech equipment, aids and adaptations to improve the quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired. ICE-CREAM SAFETY: Ice-cream vendors have been warned of food poisoning risks of soft ice-cream in a new booklet from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The booklet, Safe Handling and Serving of Soft Service Ice-cream, highlights the dangers of using dirty machines and equipment. All unused soft ice-cream should be discarded and machines cleaned.

BEREAVEMENT TALK: Well-known journalist, writer and broadcaster Nell McCafferty will give her own personal insights into loss and bereavement this Thursday, June 8th, at 8pm in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
