Lecture on music and its benefits

Studies have shown that the experience of both playing and listening to music creates a kind of inner psychological and physical order. Musician and Jungian analyst Patricia Skar will speak about both the individual and universal dimensions of this experience in a public lecture at 8pm on Friday in the Jesuit Conference Centre, Milltown Park, Ranelagh, Dublin. Admission €25/€15.

Skar will also lead a seminar for psychologists and psychotherapists on music in dreams and active imagination on Saturday.

Hospice hosts workshop on loss

The Irish Hospice Foundation is hosting a series of introductory workshops on loss and bereavement in the next few weeks. The first workshop will present an overview of the whole area of loss and bereavement (January 22nd and 23rd) and the second will look at ways in which the bereaved can be supported (February 12th and 13th). Both workshops will be held in the Irish Hospice Foundation, Morrison Chambers, 32 Nassau St, Dublin 2. Cost €180 per two-day workshop. Skipping meals and eating nutritionally unbalanced meals create sweet cravings and aggravate mood swings. Dietitian Aveen Bannon will give a free workshop on how to improve your post-festive diet at 7pm on Wednesday, January 28th in the Red Cow Moran Hotel, Naas Road, Dublin. Discover the art of living

The Art of Living Foundation is an international educational and humanitarian non-governmental organisation which was founded by Indian meditation teacher Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Courses in the Art of Living teach people breathing and meditation techniques to help deal with negative emotions and the day-to-day stresses of life. An introductory course will be held in Temple Bar, Dublin this week with six sessions from Thursday until Tuesday, January 20th. Cost €250/€175.
