Homeopathic success
Arnica, the homeopathic remedy for bumps and bruises, has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties. A study using arnica gel found that six weeks of treatment led to significant decreases in the severity of osteoarthritis.
Book of the year
An Irish doctor has helped win first prize in the British Medical Association's contest for psychiatry book of the year. Dr John Wallace of Letterkenny General Hospital, in Co Donegal, co-wrote a chapter on genetics for the Handbook Of Depression.
Living with diabetes
Living with Diabetes is the theme of a talk by Mary Banotti MEP at the Tara Towers Hotel, Dublin, at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Banotti, who has type 1 diabetes, will discuss how to manage this chronic condition.
