WOMEN'S MIGRAINE: Many women downplay the effect that migraine has on them because they don't want to be seen to be overly emotional or weak. They are, however, more likely to report reduced productivity or absenteeism from work or school compared with men because of their migraine.

A new leaflet, Migraine and Women - a female perspective on treatment and management of migraine, aims to give female sufferers more information on coping with migraine. Contact the Migraine Association of Ireland helpline on tel: 1850 200 378 or see www.migraine.ie

CRANBERRY BENEFITS: Drinking a cranberry juice drink twice a day reduces the likelihood of stomach ulcers from development, according to new research. The study reported in the medical journal, Helicobacter, found that molecules in cranberry juice prevent bacteria from sticking to the stomach walls. A build-up of bacteria is one of the main causes of stomach ulcers. Previous research found that cranberry juice fights against urinary tract infections.
