Conference on women with breast cancer

Supporting Women with Breast Canceris the theme of a free conference on Saturday organised by the Irish Cancer Society. Sessions will explore issues relating to sexuality, the menopause, survivorship, complementary therapies, diet, exercise, spirituality, fertility and current treatment. Meanwhile, the Cancer Clinical Research Trust is hosting the Irish premiere of Living Proof, the story of Dr Dennis Slamon’s discovery of targeted breast cancer drug, Herceptin. Talk on adversary heralding change

Coping with loss in the recession

Coping with Loss in the Recessionis the theme of a free event on Saturday from 10am to 1pm at the Joly Theatre, Hamilton Building, Trinity College Dublin. Workshops on bereavement

The Irish Hospice Foundation will host workshops on loss and bereavement in its premises at 32 Nassau St, Dublin 2 in the next two weeks. The first, on April 30th, will look at how we can help people facing death to explore their emotional wellbeing. The second, on May 7th, will focus on the consequences of losing your partner. Psychologist Ester Schaler Buchholz describes “alonetime” as a basic need.
