New Arc cancer support centre opens in Dublin

Arc, the cancer support centre on Eccles Street, Dublin 1, has just opened another centre on the southside. Based in 559 South Circular Road, the new centre will offer counselling and complementary therapies to people diagnosed with cancer and family members, carers and friends. Applications are invited for the Neurological Alliance of Ireland Innovation Award 2010. The award recognises outstanding achievement in the development or delivery of projects which improve the quality of life for people with neurological conditions.

Workshop on breath technique

The Buteyko Breathing Method is a shallow breathing technique which was developed by Russian professor of physiology, Prof Konstantin Buteyko. It is used as a treatment for asthma, snoring and other conditions.

Memorial services for sudden deaths

The Sudden Cardiac Death (in the young) Support Group is holding its Christmas memorial services in Dublin and Cork in memory of all the young people whose lives have been cut short by sudden cardiac death. The services will be held on Saturday at 2pm. The Dublin service will be held in the Church of Ireland parish church Monkstown, Co Dublin. The Cork service will be held in St Dominic’s Retreat House, Innismore, Montenotte, Cork city. Details from tel: 086-2043932.
