Seminar on mental health advocacy
As choirs across the State come together to celebrate World Mental Health Day on Friday, the Mental Health Commission will host a seminar on mental health advocacy. Speakers include Ruairí McKiernan, chief executive officer of SpunOut.ie and Dáil na nÓg councillors, Jennifer Hegarty and Robert McDonnell.

Relaunch of massage website
The Irish Massage Therapists Association is re-launching its website, massageireland.org for massage awareness week, which begins on Sunday. Some of the 300 massage and bodywork therapists registered with the professional body will hold events throughout the week.

Advice on healthy eating
Bring Back Breakfast is the theme of an event for parents organised by Slow Food Limerick in Garryowen Rugby Club, Dooradoyle, Limerick city on October 15th at 8pm.

Self-managing chronic pain
Prof Kate Lorig, director of the Stanford Patient Education Research Centre and professor of medicine at Stanford University, California, will speak about the self-management of chronic pain tonight at 7.30pm in the National College of Ireland in Dublin.

Hospice Week 2008
Organised by the Susie Long Hospice Fund and KCLR96fm, Hospice Week, which began on October 3rd continues until October 12th. Marking the first anniversary of Long's death, the aims are to increase public awareness and understanding of hospice care and to raise funds for the Susie Long Hospice Fund, which aims to build a hospice for Kilkenny and Carlow.
