Medecins Sans Frontières meeting

An information evening about Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders will take place at the Limerick City Art Gallery, Pery Square, Limerick on Wednesday, October 29th at 7pm.

Presidential medical histories

The medical histories of American Presidents, in particular Abraham Lincoln, is the theme of a free public talk on Thursday at 8pm in the Boole Lecture Theatre, UCC. The talk will be given by American cardiologist and author, Dr John Sotos.

Courses in wisdom

Wisdom for the Practically Orientedis the theme of an upcoming series of public talks on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in Cultivate, Temple Bar, Dublin.

Later this week, Dr Anthony Sharkey will explain the benefits of Emotional Freedom Technique. Subsequent speakers include mindfulness meditation teacher and psychotherapist Mary O'Callaghan (Oct 30th), life coach Sheila De Butiler (Nov 6th) and psychologist Sarah Bird (Nov 13th). HADD programme

The HADD (Hyperactivity Attention Deficit Disorder) organisation will begin a programme this week for young teenagers with ADD/ ADHD. The programme aims to show young people that they are not alone, and to help them come up with practical solutions to daily problems.

The organisation hopes to gather five to six young people for about two-and-a-half hours every Wednesday for six weeks. Happy to retreat

The Source of Happiness is the theme of a retreat in the Dzogchen Beara Retreat Centre, Allihies, west Cork from Saturday to Monday next. The weekend is open to all and will include videos of the teachings of Sogyal Rinpoche, author of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dyingand guided meditations. Cost €220.
