A dramatic approach to trauma

The power of drama to help us understand traumatic events is evident in Testimonies, three dramatic monologues from Smashing Times Theatre Company on at the New Theatre, East Essex St from April 1st-5th at 8pm.

The monologues were adapted from experiences of those who lost loved ones through suicide or who have survived a suicidal crisis.

UCC's final public science lecture

"Genes, microbes and food: New insights and human health implications" is the theme of the final talk in the current University College Cork Faculty of Science public lecture series.

Dr Paul O'Toole, a genetics lecturer from the Department of Microbiology, will examine how genes control how we metabolise food and the role of intestinal bacteria in health and disease.

Getting to grips with qigong

Qigong is a series of gentle flowing movements, the practise of which is believed to enhance physical and psychological health.

Eileen Murray has been teaching qigong for eight years and she will lead a workshop in it on Saturday and Sunday next at the Bru Colombanas Centre, in Wilton, Cork city. Cost €245. Booking on tel: 086-1732473.

Celebrating three decades of yoga

The Irish Yoga Association celebrates 30 years of yoga training and teaching this year.
