Events of year reflected through music

Journeying towards Christmas is the theme of a series of events at the Sanctuary, Stanhope St, Dublin in early December.

These include seasonal reflections on the passage of the yearly cycle through music, led by composer and broadcaster John Buckley on December 6th, 10am-1pm (€45) and advent reflections with Fr Michael Rodgers on December 14th, from 10am-4pm (€65).

MSF information evening at Trinity

An information evening on the work of Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders is on tomorrow at 7pm in the Walton Lecture Theatre, Arts Block, Trinity College Dublin.

At the event, Dr Simon Collins, a returned MSF field volunteer, will speak about his work in Congo-Brazzaville and North Darfur.

A recruitment officer will explain how people can become part of MSF's humanitarian work in more than 60 countries around the world.

Public meeting on sexual health

Promoting Sexual Health in a Changing Ireland is the theme of a public meeting at 6.30pm on Monday, December 8th at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, 6 Kildare St, Dublin.

Three consultants in infectious diseases will explain the types of infection that exist and the best preventative and safe sexual practices.

A live webcast of the meeting will be available on www.rcpi.ie.

Viewers are advised to log on earlier than 6.30pm to make technical adjustments to the PCs.

Bookmark tool will aid reading

X-mark is a new tool to aid reading which doubles as a bookmark. Launched recently at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Dún Laoghaire, the card can be used to guide readers down through a page at their own pace.

It was developed by Christine Caplice, a graduate of IADT, and her business partner, Eirik Grinde. It is available at a cost of €68 per 100. See www.xmark.no for details.
