Day-long series of parenting seminars

Helping you become a better parent is the theme of a day-long series of expert-led seminars on Saturday, May 10th in the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin.

Organised by event co-ordinator Maura Byrne, the day includes one and a half hour sessions on Preparing for birth (9am), Encouraging healthy eating in children (11am), Dealing with pre-school children (1pm), Parenting the primary school child (3pm) and Communicating with teenagers (5pm).

Course in medicinal plants

Medical herbalist Sarah Hughes is holding an introductory course to using medicinal plants in everyday life in Health and Herbs, 9 Sea Road, Galway city next month.

The course runs for six evenings, starting on May 13th at 6.30pm and costs €150.

Marking World Asthma Day

To mark World Asthma Day next Tuesday, the Asthma Society of Ireland is hosting a free public information meeting.

Topics to be discussed include asthma and the environment, asthma allergy and diet and tips for asthma control.

The event will run from 6.30pm-8.30pm in the Davenport Hotel, Merrion Square, Dublin 2.

Talk about childhood nutrition

Nutritionist Aveen Bannon will give a free public talk on childhood nutrition tonight at 6.30pm in the Westin Hotel, Westmoreland St, Dublin.

Bannon will offer advice on nutritional meal ideas for even the fussiest of eaters. There will also be a question and answer session.

Facts about sudden cardiac death

The sudden cardiac death (in the young) support group has an excellent leaflet explaining clearly the facts and risk factors of sudden cardiac death and all the medical terminology used in diagnosis.
