EXTENDED MOBILITY: About 10 per cent of Europeans have reduced mobility

EXTENDED MOBILITY:About 10 per cent of Europeans have reduced mobility. A new EU regulation stipulates that airlines and tour operators with flights originating in EU airports can no longer refuse to carry passengers or take bookings on the basis of reduced mobility.

From July 26th, 2008, airports will have to provide services for persons with reduced mobility.

Airlines will also be obliged to provide free assistance on board with the use of wheelchairs and guide dogs. All EU member states are required to designate enforcement bodies to ensure the regulation is complied with.

TALK BY TIBETAN:A spiritual life in modern times - It's up to you is the theme of a free public talk tonight at 7.30pm in the Cairns Theatre on the NUI Galway campus.

The talk will be given by Tibetan Buddhist teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, a US-based spiritual leader trained by the Dali Lama.

FUNDRAISING WALK:The Irish Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IASBAH) is seeking volunteers for its walking challenge in Mexico from October 28th-November 6th.
