Let’s face it, we all hit a slump sometimes in our day. Maybe it’s the mid-morning dip when you look at the clock and can’t believe it is still hours to lunch break. Or how about that moment in mid-afternoon when you just want to crawl into a corner for a snooze?

It’s tempting to reach for a sugary snack or calorie-laden comfort-food favourite to get through the patch of low energy - but there is a healthier option.

Why not use exercise as your pick-me-up? If you are slumped at your desk get out for a brisk five-minute walk to take some lungfuls of fresh air and get the blood pumping more effectively. Or go into a meeting room (preferably an unoccupied one!) and do a few jumps and stretches. You’ll find you feel instantly better, and your wallet and waistline will thank you in the longer term.
