Are you an exerciser?

Yes I am, but not out of vanity, I do it for my sanity. If I didn't exercise I think I'd go bananas.

What's your workout?

I run a lot and I've done a few marathons in the past. Marathon running gives you a great sense of achievement but with two kids I don't get time to do them any more.

I do hill running. I also love spinning; I think it's a fantastic workout because you feel wrecked at the end of the class and I play five-a-side soccer once a week. I like any activity that's sweat-based.

Where do you run?

When I'm travelling I can run wherever I am. That's the great thing about running, you can do it anywhere and it's a terrific way to discover a country. At home I have a route of about four to five miles up and down hills and it takes me 35 minutes.

Do you eat healthily?

With kids you have to have good food in the house, so we drink juices in the mornings and eat a lot of fresh food. My kids don't seem to like nuggets and chips.

Any vices?

I booze my face off when I get a chance and I can eat a lot of rubbishy food when I don't have time to eat properly when I'm travelling.

Do you get stressed?

The media and all that surrounds it stresses me out.

Ever been injured?

My knees and back play up every now and again but nothing major.

Patricia Weston recommends:

Running up and down hills is an excellent workout.

Develop a bouncing technique and push upwards with your toes.

Use your arms as you run, try and keep them parallel to your body rather than swinging them across your body.

Look straight ahead and try not to tense your neck, arms and shoulders.

When running up a steep hill lean into it.
