What figure from the world of health / medicine do you most admire?
Loads of friends and colleagues but I'll pick my great friend, Dr Denis Eustace, medical director, Highfield Hospital Group, for his clinical skills and unerring kindness to patients.
What alternative career might you have chosen?
Barrister.
If you were appointed Minister for Health what would be your first priority?
To get rid of waiting lists.
Do you have a phobia/what is your greatest fear?
No specific phobias, loads of minor fears, would hate to be a burden on my loved ones in my old age.
Have you ever been a patient and were you a good one?
Yes but thank God only for minor problems and yes a very good patient.
What three books would you bring to a desert island?
Roget's Thesaurus, Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, and any sports book.
Have you a fail-safe method of dealing with stress?
Walking on the beautiful endless beach at Portsalon up on the Fanad Peninsula.
What is your favourite TV or radio programme?
Crime Scene Investigation on TV and every sports programme.
If you did not live in Ireland where would you chose to spend the rest of your life?
On the Riviera in Italy or on the Gold Coast in Australia.

Do you use alternative medicine/therapies?
Haven't had to, to date but I am a big fan of aromatherapy.
Who or what makes you laugh?
All sorts of people and ordinary situations. Love great mimics. Couldn't survive without humour!
