What figure from the world of medicine or health do you most admire?
Dr Eithne Conway-Magee, a retired GP in Galway, who to me is an exemplary example of a doctor who cared deeply for her patients and yet is involved in a myriad of other activities as well.
What other career would you have chosen?
Medicine.
If you could grant three wishes for the health service, what would they be?
Just one - that the various factions in the Health Service Executive could work together to provide a health service that would benefit our patients and of which we could be proud.
What is your greatest fear?
Incapacitation due to illness such as stroke.
Have you ever been a patient and were you a good one?
Yes and yes.
When or where are you happiest?
With a good book in the sun.
How do you cope with stress?
Golf and reading.
What is the trait you most admire in yourself?
I think I'm a good listener.
What is the trait you most dislike in yourself?
Procrastination.

Yes.

My family and the people I hang with.
