We’ve all been there: hunger or boredom is gnawing and suddenly you just have to eat a snack. Depending on what you have, it’s a moment that can reinforce or derail.

So be prepared. Try to avoid having the instant hit of biscuits, cakes or other high-calorie fare within easy reach and instead stock the fridge with sliced fruit and raw vegetables like celery or carrot sticks that are cool, crisp and ready to provide a bit of sustenance - plus some fibre and vitamins - and make them your first port of call if the munchies strike between meals.
