Dr Mohammad Ahmed Khan was struck off the register earlier this year.

The council have secured a High Court injunction to prevent, Dr Mohammad Ahmed Kha, whose former registration number was 021995, from practising medicine while unregistered.

The watchdog said the Dr Khan's registration was cancelled on June 8th, which took away his right to practise medicine in Ireland.

This was following a fitness-to-practise committee, which found Dr Khan guilty of professional misconduct in over-prescribing sleeping pills to a patient who was addicted to them.

He was found guilty of professional misconduct at a hearing earlier this year on 11 allegations out of 15 made against him.

In 2012, Dr Khan, a GP practising on Wicklow Street in Dublin, had conditions attached to his registration after being found guilty of poor professional performance for over-prescribing benzodiazepines for patients with anxiety and insomnia.
