Russia among nine new countries added to mandatory hotel quarantine list

Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Kuwait and Tunisia also added to list

Russia and Indonesia are among nine new countries added to the State's mandatory hotel quarantine list.

From next Tuesday, all those coming into the State after departing from or travelling through these countries within last 14 days must agree to enter hotel quarantine for a two week period.

The new additions to the list are the Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Haiti, Indonesia, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Russia and Tunisia.

Quarantine requirements also apply to any passenger travelling on to Northern Ireland after their arrival in Ireland.

Those travelling from non-high risk countries must still have a valid negative PCR test and quarantine in their own homes for 14 days after arrival (or a shorter period if they produce another negative PCR test five days after their arrival).

The list of "designated countries" now names 61 states including 24 from Africa, 17 from Asia, 14 from South America, four from North American and two European states.
