Sneak vegetables in by stealth

If you are lucky, your children wolf down vegetables with glee. But in many households kids and veggies are like oil and water. No amount of explaining, cajoling or even bribery will get those vegetables down the hatch.

In this case, you may need to resort to stealth. Use the blender (hand held or countertop) to whizz veggies into meals - if the kids can’t see them and pick them out, chances are they may actually eat them.

Soup offers a great Trojan horse for delivering sneaky veg. If you have time to make your own, blend in lots of different vegetables - carrots, sweet potatoes and leeks are tasty additions.

Or if are making pasta or pizza sauce, add in a veggie boost. Tip the basic tomato sauce (yes, even from a jar) into the blender along with some extra yellow, orange and red peppers, garlic, fresh tomatoes and fresh herbs and then continue to cook it as usual.
