There are 10 Camphill Communities in the Republic, listed below, each set up to cater for the needs of children or adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. They include a variety of ventures from coffee shops, craft and bookshops, farms and workshops, to a concert hall.
They are:
Duffcarrig, near Gorey, Co Wexford
Kyle, Co Kilkenny
Dunshane, near Naas, Co Kildare
The Bridge, Kilcullen, Co Kildare
The Watergarden, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny
Grangemockler in Co Tipperary
Ballybay, in Co Monaghan
Carrick-on-Suir, Co Waterford
Ballytobin, near Callan, Co Kilkenny
Also in Callan, Co Kilkenny, the Camphill Community has recently bought the former workhouse, and with community and heritage groups, a community resource centre is set to be developed there.
