Hospice in-patient care is entirely free.
The home care service administered via the local area health boards is free.
The Irish Cancer Society's Night Nurse Funds raised on Daffodil Day go towards the provision of free nursing services including a National Cancer Helpline, community-based home care teams, hospital-based cancer liaison nurses and a play therapist in Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children. It also provides a free night nursing service for those who wish to remain at home.
BUPA provides full cover for Our Lady's Hospice in Harold's Cross and Marymount in Cork. 180 days per calendar year is allowed and no medical condition is excluded.
VHI Healthcare provides cover for up to 180 days in any calendar year for inpatient, day care treatments, side room procedures and out-patient procedures for members in any of the acute medical facilities listed in its members' handbook. It also provides up to 14 days convalescence cover in approved homes when it is deemed medically necessary following an in-patient hospital stay.
