NEWS: Clueless about condoms: Many university students in Britain are "completely clueless" about condoms, according to a new survey.
More than one in 10 cannot put a condom on properly and 16 per cent believe two condoms are safer than one.
More than a third of the 2,200 students surveyed believe condoms have holes in them big enough for HIV to get through while almost a quarter think other forms of contraception protect against sexually-transmitted infections.
Seven students believed condoms could be washed and re-used.
The survey of university students was carried out for the charity Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) and the National Union of Students (NUS).
Slimming formula: Experts have expressed concerns over claims that a new infant formula could prevent babies from growing up fat.
Controversial new research aims to supplement baby milk with a hormone that suppresses hunger.
Animal studies suggest early exposure to the hormone leptin can program the brain to prevent over-eating throughout life.
The infant formula, together with other "child-friendly" leptin preparations, is being developed by Prof Mike Cawthorne, director of metabolic research at the Clore Laboratory, University of Buckingham.
Prof Cawthorne has already shown that giving rats leptin supplements early in life provides permanent protection against obesity and diabetes.
