The foundation is seeking to change habits, both among the dining public and the catering industry
While portion sizes are not of particular concern for those who dine out only occasionally, the amount on your plate can become "extremely important" for those who do so regularly, said Dr Cliodhna Foley-Nolan.
With 60 per cent of the Irish population overweight, it was timely to remind consumers and restaurants that while variety and quality were key issues for a satisfying meal, “sensible portion sizes” should also be taken into consideration, she said.
