Sweet potatoes are rich in magnesium and vitamins A, C and B6. They have lots of beta-carotene, which is good for your eyes. They are complex carbohydrates that are high in fibre and iron.

According to this infographic from the Cleveland Clinic, sweet potatoes are more nutritious than regular potatoes. Sweet potatoes have 400 per cent of your daily requirement of vitamin A, along with more fibre and fewer calories and carbs than white potatoes.

They are also versatile and can be used in soups, curries, and casseroles or on their own. Try one of these recipes from BBC good food.
