Reimagining Waterford was the challenge posed for 50 young architects who participated in the Industria exhibition, which opens in Dublin on Wednesday.

Among the designs developed for Waterford – the State’s fifth largest city – are a vertical brewery, a hotel which is adapted for beekeeping, a river water treatment plant and a drone testing facility.

The projects, developed in response to the challenge from IDA Ireland and the Dublin Institute of Technology architecture school have the potential to create 6,500 though the redesign of working life in the city according to the organisers.

Industria runs at the Chocolate Factory, Kings Inn Street from Wednesday evening to Sunday and will be exhibited in Waterford late in the year. See industria15.tumblr.com
