Srinagar - India and Pakistan exchanged intense artillery fire in Kashmir yesterday as Indian troops recovered what they claimed were the bodies of three Pakistani soldiers fighting alongside Islamic guerrillas. India meanwhile said it was "examining a proposal" by Pakistan for peace talks next Monday in New Delhi.
Military officials said heavy shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) dividing Indianand Pakistan-controlled Kashmir continued, as India pushed on with its attempt to evict hundreds of Muslim guerrillas it says crossed the line in April.
